What is PickEnrol?

Networking basketball opportunities for the next generation

There are a distinct lack of volunteers in the basketball community in Britain. Whilst the lack of funding, venues and strong governance also hamper the growth of the game, we see clubs and organisations repeatedly held back by a lack of volunteers.

PickEnrol looks to address this, with a primary focus on young persons who have a passion and interest in basketball. We partner with clubs and organisations to facilitate meaningful volunteering and shadowing opportunities that empower individuals to grow their skills and explore their interests.

Whether in media, game day ents, operations, coaching or officiating, there are many areas of opportunity across basketball. Through our collaborative network, we aim to be part of creating a vibrant future for the sport.

PICK

We work with young persons with a basketball background or interest who register with us, identifying volunteer/shadow opportunities for them to PICK based on their chosen interests. These can be with various different clubs or organisations to get a taste of multiple environments and roles across a season

SUPPORT

Once placed in a volunteering/shadowing role, we provide a single point of support, regularly checking in with all placements to ensure they are happy and that the role is beneficial

ENROL

We partner with basketball clubs, organisations and entrusted basketball facing businesses, identifying both volunteer and shadow opportunities available to ENROL in that may be suitable development and learning for young persons

Growth

George is a 15-year-old who plays jNBL basketball in Colchester. He is really passionate about basketball and has a keen interest in photography. He doesn’t know what he wants to do in the future but is keen to experience photography in basketball.

George signs up to PickEnrol, expressing an interest in experiencing photography. PickEnrol assesses that there are two suitable clubs in the local area with prominent photographers that would be great for George to shadow and learn from.

PickEnrol makes arrangements for George to shadow photographers for upcoming home games so he can experience what it’s like to capture a game and develop his photography skills in a basketball environment.

PickEnrol checks in with both George and the club to feedback on how the shadowing went. PickEnrol then places George with a photographer at a different local club for further experience in a different environment.

Photography is just one example - there are so many areas to explore!
